How does BPM detection work?

Detection runs entirely in your browser with Essentia. FELAR samples multiple sections of the track, cross-checks two tempo estimators, and votes on the strongest result — no upload required.

Why is the first run slower?

The first detection downloads the Essentia analysis engine (WASM) once. After that, analysis stays on your device and is usually much faster.

Are my files secure?

Your audio never leaves your device. There is no upload step — detection happens entirely in your browser with Essentia.

What formats work best?

MP3, WAV, and FLAC are supported. Cleaner loops and beat-driven tracks usually give the most reliable reads. Avoid long silent intros when possible.
